Choosing the right bike size...The right frame size is very essential when purchasing a bicycle to avoid likelihood of injuries and to ensure a certain level of comfort. A few elements are also important when selecting the perfect bike. Ideally, you should know the inseam length of the cyclist’s legs, the height of the cyclist, the age (in cases of children only) and the gender. The following steps could help you to choose the right bike:

1-VERIFYING THE GAP
First, it is essential to leave a gap between the cyclist’s pelvic arch and the frame’s top tube - about 1 inch for a city bike and 3 inches for a mountain bike. (Refer to Fig.1)

2- FRAME SIZE
A) FOR ADULTS- fig 2
1. Inseam
Measure your inside length of your leg by placing a ruler firmly against your groin. Hold it square against the wall and mark it. Make sure to be bare feet.
2. Height
Measure your height by placing a ruler firmly against the top of your head. Hold it square against the wall and mark it.
3. Using measurements 1 and 2, refer to the table 1 and identify the right frame size accordingly or, you can refer to the following formula to calculate the exact frame size:

Usually, the ideal frame size can be calculated this way:
1-Ideal frame size for a city bike (in cm): inseam length in cm x 0, 66
2-Ideal frame size for a mountain Bike (in cm): inseam length in cm x 0, 59

B) FRAME SIZE FOR KIDS- fig. 2

1. Inseam
Measure the height of your child by placing a ruler firmly against his/her head. Hold it square against the wall and mark it. Make sure that the child is bare feet.
2. Using the measurements on the previous step and the child’s age, identify the right frame size accordingly with the help of table 2.
